NARS Lip Gloss | Turkish Delight

Hey everyone, Hope you are well and you're having a good week. Todays post is on another lip product, yes I know I have a problem, I am just addicted to purchasing any sort of lip product, its definitely a weakness! Anyway, a few days ago I decided to splash out on a NARS lip gloss, something I have wanted for a very long time. There is just something about that packaging and the choice of colours that makes me really need one.

After spending a little while searching through all the shades, I decided on 'Turkish Delight' a lovely pale pink which is quite subtle and will go with everything. When it finally arrived I was super excited. I love NARS packaging, I just think it looks really smart and expensive and the colour is everything I thought it would be. Its quite a sheer colour but you can layer it up to create a lovely pink lip. Now because I hadn't actually tried a NARS lipgloss before I didn't actually know what to expect but the formula is perfect. Its not sticky at all and glides onto my lips easily with the little doe foot applicator which is beyond soft. As for lasting power, I was pretty surprised. Despite it being quite a sheer colour, it lasted for a few hours before I really needed to reapply.

Overall, I love this lipgloss and will be sure to purchase more NARS lip glosses in the future. You can purchase this lipgloss for £17.50 which is quite pricey but if you want a high end lipgloss then its worth every penny. :)

Have you tried any NARS lip glosses? What did you think of them? Worth the price tag?

Maybelline Baby Lips

Hey ladies! How are you all? I am off work for the next week which is just fab! I am so excited to just have some time off and a well deserved rest. Working in the heat this last couple of weeks has been really tough so I'll be glad to have a break. Anyway, onto todays post! Incase you didn't know (even though I am sure you do) Maybelline's Baby Lips have finally reached the UK! Now I have tried Baby Lips before when I was over in New York last year and I totally fell in love but obviously I came back home and all I had was my one little tube of goodness to last me like forever... not happening!

So when I saw on the Boots website that they would be reaching our shores this month I was literally jumping for joy and signed up for their mailing list so I wouldn't miss out. Now being a beauty addict, I just couldn't decide which ones I wanted to purchase, I mean I know they only cost £2.99 but I didn't want to go totally crazy. However when I received my email telling me they were now on sale, I also noticed that they had a 3 for 2 offer on as well. Well that was it, I had to buy all six and wouldn't even feel slightly guilty. Yay!

So basically, if you have no idea what Baby Lips are, they are a lip balm that hydrates your lips for up to 8 hours and can transform your lips in a week. Now I wouldn't say they transformed my lips or anything but they are really hydrating and leave my lips really soft for long periods of time. The only one I have tried before is Hydrate (which is called Quenched in the US) and this one has no colour or anything to it, just pure hydration so I was really excited to purchase the tinted ones. Overall there are three without colour and three tinted ones. You can see in the swatches that the colours are gorgeous and can either be layered up like I did for a deeper colour or you can just have a slight tint to your lips whilst keeping them hydrated. I think my favourite so far has to be Pink Punch because it is such a lovely shade.

So thats my small Baby Lips collection. I love this product and I feel like its worth the hype. Hopefully we will start getting all the limited edition flavours eventually and it will be as if we always had them. If you wanted to purchase some for yourself then head over to Boots and get yourself some. :)

If you have tried Baby Lips before then what do you think? Whats your favourite one?

MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara

Hey everyone! How are you all? Todays post is on a mascara which I purchased recently and have quickly fallen in love with and that is MAC's Zoom Fast Black Lash mascara. Now I do love my mascaras and I really enjoying testing them all out. My lashes are one of my best features because they are super thick and really long and have quite a natural curl to them which makes applying mascara so much easier! But because I like them so much, I really like to get a mascara that does them justice.

Now I have been using Max Factors Masterpiece mascara for years! I just adore it and it really makes my eyelashes pop and even though I have bought and tried different mascaras, I always revert back to my faithful Max Factor one. However, using the same mascara for years can get a teeny tiny bit boring so one day I decided I would try a MAC one. Now I have heard totally different reviews on their mascaras, some saying that it is the best mascara ever and others completely slating them and saying they are MAC's worst products. So yeah, being a complete mascara junkie, I had to try one.

After spending ages online looking at all the different mascaras they have on offer (and they have loads more then I thought they did!) I settled on Zoom Fast Black Lash. Its just like the standard Zoom Fast but is a deeper black, something that I always look for when choosing a mascara. I like super dark lashes. When it arrived it looked really cute. Its a skinny, black tube and has MACs signature style all over it. It also felt quite heavy compared to drugstore mascaras I have tried in the past and the brush was quite skinny too, not something I am used to at all. I couldn't wait to try it out!

When I applied this mascara, it nearly completely coated my lashes after one swipe and the colour was a lovely deep black. The more I applied the darker it got and it really spaced my lashes out, made them look super long and thicker. It also made my bottom lashes really stand out which I think are just as important as the top. I just loved it straight away! The next test was to see whether it flaked off throughout the day or left any black smudges under my eyes. This is something that I cannot stand and does happen quite frequently with a lot of mascaras out there. But this one didn't, I wore this a whole day at work in the heat and it didn't smudge once and removing it that night wasn't an issue either.

Now I don't know if all MAC mascaras would be like this or whether it is just this one in particular but I was really impressed. I have used it every day since I purchased it and I still love it as much, if not more since I first got it. Now it does cost £14 which some people may think is a little pricey for a mascara but when you find something you love, its got to be worth it right? I wish I had taken a photo of my lashes but its very difficult to take a photo of your own eye and it not be blurry or anything so I am really sorry about that!

If you fancy trying out a MAC mascara then I would highly recommend it, I have been really impressed and will definitely repurchase this one or maybe even try out another, who knows! :). Have any of you guys tried MAC's mascaras before? What did you think?

Bourjois Paris Colour Boost Lip Crayon

Hey everyone! Hope you are well and having a good week in the sunshine. We have finally found out what the royal baby is called! Prince George Alexander Louis Cambridge. How cute is that?! I thought they might go with George and I am really pleased they did, from the pictures we have seen, I think it suits him. All together now, 'Awwww'. Anyway enough of the baby talk, todays post is on Bourjois' new lip crayons.

Now I purchased the Clinique chubby sticks about a year ago and even though I do go back to it every so often, its not a wow product and I never really tried lip crayons again. Until I saw Bourjois' offering and I knew I had to try one. They have gone for really nice summer shades and all of them are gorgeous! I finally settled on Orange Punch which is meant to be orange but to me its more of a pinkish shade. Its really pretty though and I am not entirely sure the swatch does it justice.

The formula of these lip crayons are lovely and creamy and glide onto my lips easily. They are super hydrating and quite glossy. Perfect for those of you with quite dry lips from the summer sun. The thing I also really like about this crayon is the fact that the colour isn't super pigmented like a lipstick or anything. Its quite sheer so its ideal for when I am at work or wanting something a little more subtle. The staying power of these was pretty good considering it is pretty sheer, it lasted for a couple of hours before I felt like I needed to top it up. Re applying is super easy too as its almost like applying a lip balm.

Overall I am really impressed with this lip crayon and really want to get my mitts on the other three shades available. They cost just £7.99 and you can still pick them up at Boots. :)

Have any of you tried this product? What did you think?

Sunbathing Must Haves

Beautysets - Sunbathing Must Haves

Hey everyone, hope you are all well and are having a good week so far. I have been pretty much glued to the TV yesterday because of the royal baby! Its been so exciting waiting to hear the news and now we know its a little prince! Seriously, I couldn't contain my excitement and now I just want to see him and find out what they will call him.  Hopefully we will know a little bit later on today. :) Anyway, todays post is just a quick one and its basically what I think are sunbathing must haves. I also had great fun using Beauty Sets again. You can create some really nice collages on there and the templates are amazing.

So for my sunbathing must haves I included..

Suncream.
You should always apply suncream before any sort of sunbathing, plus it stops you getting burnt as easily! I love Hawaiian Tropic suncream because not only is it super moisturising, it smells divine too!
Sunglasses.
When the sun gets too bright, shades are a must! I wouldn't sit with them on your face the entire time as you will get pretty bad tan lines, but if you want to have a little read or a flick through a magazine, they make it a lot more comfortable.
Ice Cold Drink.
Drinking is super important when you are sunbathing as you don't want to get too dehydrated. A nice cold drink will cool you down as well as keep you hydrated.
Flip-flops.
Perfect for when you just want to slip something on your feet to take a little break and walk around. Flip flops are so cute and easy to slip on and off. I live in mine during the summer.
Beach Towel.
Whether you are using a sun lounger or are sitting on the beach, a towel is a must. They make sun loungers and the ground a lot more comfortable and hygienic and they are also perfect if you want to hop in and out or the pool or ocean.
Aftersun.
This is more of an after sunbathing kind of thing but its still a must have regardless. Moisturising your skin after spending time in the sun is very important and this Hawaiian Tropic one works wonders! It also smells amazing too which is always a bonus.
Beach Bag.
Very important. How else are you supposed to take all these things with you? A stylish beach bag is the perfect thing to carry with you. I love this straw one with the cute green detailing.
Lip balm.
Last but not least is a hydrating lip balm. Just like our skin, our lips can become very dry and sore if spent too long in the sun without any protection. This EOS lip balm is ideal and something I swear by!

So there you have it, my sunbathing must haves squeezed into just 8 items.
Do you guys have any sunbathing must haves?

Kisses

The Rainbow Tag

Hey ladies, today I am doing The Rainbow Tag. I was tagged a couple of weeks ago by the lovely Jackie at FiveTwo Certified but I have only just got round to doing it.. terrible I know! Basically you take every single colour of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet) plus pink and multicoloured and name one of your favourite beauty or fashion products that fit in with every colour. I stuck with beauty products all the way through apart from multi coloured which was way too difficult. It was actually pretty hard, (I didn't realise how many pink products I actually owned - oops!) but I managed it in the end and it was really fun! Anyway, lets get started!

Red. OPI Nail Polish in 'Big Apple Red'. I just had to choose a nail polish for this colour and this is my all time favourite red shade. Its just the perfect classic nail colour and looks brilliant with everything. Plus its OPI so the quality is amazing and lasts for days without a single chip. I wear this heaps in the winter.

Orange. Clarins Daily Energiser Cream. I did struggle a little with orange but I realised that the moisturiser I use every single night happens to be in an orange pot. Funny how you never notice these things when you use them regularly. Anyway, I adore this moisturiser and its one out of very few that actually work really well on my skin. I get through tubs of this stuff, its so good.

Yellow. Herbel Essences Bee Strong Strengthening Cream. This was an easy one. I love the Bee Strong range but I figured I had mentioned the hair mask a few times before in other posts so I thought I would give this product some lime light. I love this! I use this on the ends of hair after I have just washed it and it works miracles. My ends are super soft, they don't look dry or damaged and the smell is amazing. If you have never tried this before and want something to repair the ends of your hair a little, then try this!

Green. Hawiian Tropic Silk Hydration Aftersun. I mentioned this in my June favourites which you can take a look at here and its still a firm favourite this month too. What with the sunshine beaming away and spending more and more time outside in the garden soaking up the rays, I have really got so much use out of this. I love the fact it is super hydrating and leaves my skin really soft. Plus the actual product is green. :)

Blue. No7 Facial Recovery Aftersun. Again, this was quite an easy one as I seem to have a lot of blue products. I chose this one because I have been using it a lot lately. It the ideal aftersun for the face as its non greasy but also really soothing and hydrating. It also works brilliantly when you get slightly burnt too which I managed to experience a couple of weeks ago. Oops!

Indigo. OPI Nail Polish in ' Into The Night'. I struggled with this colour big time. I couldn't find a single thing that matched it at all. So I had to go with another nail polish. This is a really unusual colour and has a slight pearlesent finish to it. I really like wearing this in the winter months as its quite bright but still dark enough to finish off a winter look.

Violet. Anatomicals Spray Misty For Me Facial Spritz. This arrived in this months Glossybox which I did a post on here and it fit in perfectly with this colour. I really like this product. It really cools me down and the smell is lovely!

Pink. YSL Lipstick in #29. I had to do a lipstick for pink as I have a million different shades! I think I have a slight obsession with pink lipsticks. I decided to choose my YSL one because I love this colour so so much. Its a stunning pink that looks fantastic with any type of make up look and the formula is super creamy and hydrating, not drying at all! I just love it so much and would love to purchase a few more YSL lipsticks but unfortunately they are pretty pricey.

Multicoloured. Victoria's Secret Pink Bandeau. Okay, so this is when I had to go for a fashion product rather than beauty and I think this fits in nicely. It has lots of different colours in the floral pattern and its so cute! I love it and its very multicoloured. :)

So thats the Rainbow Tag! I hope you enjoyed it and I now tag all of you to try and match up some of your favourite beauty and fashion products to the colours of the rainbow. If you have done this tag, leave me a link below so I can take a look. :)

It really means a lot to me to know that you enjoy my little blog and the things I write about. I cant tell you enough, I'm just so happy! So thank you once again for being part of my tiny bubble in the web. It really means the world.

July Glossybox

Hey ladies, hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine. Todays post is on this months Glossybox. Its weird because I feel as if it was only a few days a go I was writing about Junes box. This month is seriously flying by! Now first I just want to mention how cute this box is. Just look at it! I love the bright turquoise colour of this box, I'm not sure if the picture does it justice really but it is super bright and its covered in orange coral and starfishes. Eek! Such a lovely design and perfect for summer. I was so excited about that it took me a little while to appreciate whats actually inside.

This month the theme was the seaside whether it be to the Caribbean or the seaside here in England. The box definitely represents this and the product are super cute and summery too! Here is what I received in my box this month...

Anatomicals Spray Misty for me facial spritz. I love the packaging of this little spray and its the first thing I picked up when opening my box. Its basically a spray to rehydrate and calm your skin and its super cooling too. Absolutely perfect for the weather at the moment. I actually tested it out there and then and loved it. Its really refreshing and makes you feel less hot and sticky. Love it! Its also ideal for all skin types and only retails for about £6 so you can't go wrong.

Alterna Haircare Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist. I have never heard of this brand before but I am pretty excited to give this a whirl. In hot weather of any kind, the idea of spending ages styling my hair or using heat on it makes me want to hide! So this is ideal. You just spritz it on to damp (or dry) hair and shape it with your fingers and your done. Its meant to create beach hair without actually being near one. Cant wait to try it out. :)

Ciate London Paint Pot in 'Speed Dial'. Another nail polish! You are all probably thinking 'this girl has way too many, stop sending them to her!' but I love it! I always get really excited when I see a nail polish staring back at me in my monthly goodie box. Ciate London are actually a really good brand and normally retail for £9 so the quality is good. I'm really looking forward to painting my nails this gorgeous bright sunny orange. Its not a colour I would normally buy myself but I can imagine it looking brilliant with a tan.

Coola Organic Suncare Collection Face SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer. I tell you, this box couldn't have come at a better time! With the weather how it is at the moment, sunscreen is a must! I normally use Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen for my body and my face but this one sounds really interesting. Not only is it a moisturising sunscreen but it also soothes, tones and minimises pores too! I will definitely be trying this out next time I am sunbathing in my garden thats for sure. I'll keep you posted. :)

Sleek Makeup Pout Paint in 'Peek-a-Boo' & 'Pin Up'. These look really interesting too. I get the impression they are a little like lip tars. They are basically long lasting lip pigments that can also be mixed together to create new shades. Apparently by using the colour alone, you get super vibrant colour and full coverage with a satin finish that lasts for hours! However I also received this bright blue one which at first glance looks terrifying! Once I read the booklet inside, I realised that it was for mixing to create my own ideal shade. Less scary now. :)

So thats what was inside my box this month. Overall, I was really happy with what I received. One of my favourite boxes so far. I think it helps that the packaging was just so cute and different. Did you get July's Glossybox? What did you think?

Lots of love

NOTD | Essie - Fiji

Hey everyone. I am so sorry I haven't posted anything for a few days, its just this heat and work do not go together and I am just exhausted once I get home. Trying to make more of an effort this week though! I don't like to complain about this weather either as it is gorgeous outside, just wish I didn't have to work in a hot and sticky shop most days, that would be brilliant! Anyway, todays post is another nail of the day. I am going to try and do at least one of these a month because I don't know about you guys, but I love seeing what colour polishes people are wearing throughout the year. Its great to see some swatches too. :)

So the colour I am currently wearing is Essie's 'Fiji' which is a stunning creamy pale pink. It has a great formula for a start and I only just needed two coats. If you were in a rush though, you could just get away with the one. It is a just a gorgeous summer shade and I love it! I had seen people rave about this colour before and its only when I was in Boots (again) and saw they had a buy one get one half price offer on that I decided to treat myself to it and see what all the fuss was about. It is now easily one of my favourite shade EVER! Thats huge coming from someone who has a million nail polishes. :)

If you were how I was and have never tried this shade before then I highly recommend it. Whats your favourite nail polish for summer?

Liebster Award

Hey everyone! Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine this weekend. Its gorgeous outside and absolutely boiling! Hoping to top up my tan a little bit in the garden. I figure I might as well make the most of weather seeing as its not guaranteed how long this will be around for! Anyway, I got nominated for a Liebster Award by the lovely Ashleigh from Beauty And Bits a couple of days ago which I was thrilled about. Basically, the Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have 200 followers or less and is a great way of meeting new bloggers and learning more about them and their blogs.

Rules

The nominees answer the 11 questions set by the nominator

Then choose 11 of your favourite blogs with under 200 subscribers to be nominated

Then make up your own 11 questions for your nominees to answer

Let your nominees know that they've been tagged

You cannot tag back

So these are the questions set by Beauty And Bits...

Heels or Flats?

I would say flats mainly because thats what I pretty much live in but I do adore heels. They really make an outfit sometimes and I would never go on a night out with them. However flats are a safe choice and there are so many cute styles out there now, I'm almost spoilt for choice!

American TV shows or English TV shows?

As much as I love some English TV shows I would have to say American. I just love their shows so much! They are so different from what we have here in the UK and they are always highly addictive. I couldn't imagine never watching Pretty Little Liars, Greys Anatomy or Vampire Diaries. Its not worth thinking about! To be honest, I think I live in the wrong country a lot of the time..

One thing you couldn't leave the house without?

Apart from the obvious like phone and purse, I would say lip balm. I hate it when my lips feel all dry and always like to know I have a lip balm available to hydrate them. I would feel pretty lost if it wasn't in my bag... how bad is that?!

Sweet or savory food?

Ooooo sweet all the way! I have a major sweet tooth and would always choose chocolate or cakes over crisps and things. Easy Peasy!

One beauty product you couldn't live without?

A decent moisturiser and my MAC Face and Body foundation. Those are the two things that are super important. I have seriously dry skin so without a decent moisturiser I would look and feel a total mess! And as for F&B, its the best foundation for my skin type at the moment and I couldn't imagine not having it.

Drugstore or Highend?

Oooo thats a tough one. I would have to say high end though. That makes me sound so snobby but places like MAC are my favourite places to purchase my make up so I would have to choose it. I do use loads of drugstore products though so its tough!

If you could go anywhere, where would it be?

New York City. I have only been there once but it is my favourite place in the entire world! I have never felt so at home in another country and would go back there in a heartbeat. I just love everything about it so so much.

Eyeshadow or lipstick?

Hmmm probably eyeshadow because I love having statement eyes when I am not at work. I think my natural lip colour isn't too bad so I could go a few days without lipstick or anything.

Favourite blogger?

I wouldn't say I had just one so I am going to mention a few who's blogs I read regularly. Kayleigh from Couture Girl, Beth from Bird's Words,  Zoe from Zoella and Em from Em Talks.

Favourite place to shop?

Probablt Topshop because they have pretty much anything you could want at reasonable prices but I also love Victoria's Secret for lounge clothes. You just can't beat their baggy T-shirts and joggers. Love them!

What made you start blogging?

After reading so many fantastic blogs which are now firm favourites of mine, I just realised that actually, I would quite like to give this a go. I have always loved writing and was always something I actually enjoyed at school so why not? I really love it now and can't imagine not having my own little place on the web. :)

These are the 11 bloggers that I have nominated..

Spot The Beauty
Student Style Stalker
My Fair Style
Amazed By D
Isabel's Beauty Blog
Laura-Beth
Series of Serendipity
Chic n' Divine Makeup
The Life and Times of a Product Junkie
Ellie May
Will Work for Lipstick

These are your questions...

Who is your favourite blogger?
Whats your pet peeve?
Favourite season of the year?
Favourite candy?
Best beauty tip?
Boots or shoes?
Pink or Red lipstick?
Favourite Takeaway?
Beauty product you couldn't live without?
Who inspires you?
Why did you start blogging?

Hopefully none of you guys have done this tag before! :) Thank you again Ashleigh for nominating me!

Look Book | Beach Style

Hey ladies! Hope you are all having a good week so far. Its been gorgeous here, the sun is always shining which has been lovely. Working in it hasn't been as great.. its boiling and ends up making me feel really tired. I think work should be banned when its hot and sunny, that would be perfect :). Anyway todays post is along the sunshine theme, its a quick post on beach style and a few style essentials for either your holidays or that day by the sea.

So first up, I included some swimwear. You can never have too many bikinis or swimsuits and whether its enjoying a hot sunny day here in England or your in paradise for your hols, swimwear is a must. I am totally obsessed with these super cute fringed bikinis at the moment. They just look so summery and are really flattering. I just love them! For those of you who are not as keen on a two piece, why not this very glamorous one piece. Its stunning and very chic. Sticking with clothing, I also added a pair of denim shorts. you cant go wrong with a simple pair of shorts, they go with absolutely anything and these American flag ones are amazing! I actually want these desperately. Anyone know where I can pick up a reasonably priced pair?

Moving onto accessories, a pair of flip flops is definitely an essential. They are ideal for by the pool or on the beach and are super easy to wear. Another thing that is a total beach essential is a beach bag. Especially these straw like ones. I think they are so summery and you can cram lots of goodies in there, such as suncream, a good book and a few magazines. Next up are sunglasses. Now I don't know about you guys, but I have a ridiculous amount of sunglasses, I don't actually wear half of them either but I always find I buy more every year. Lastly, a little bit of jewellery. These cute rope and bead bracelets are perfect and are very beach chic. I love them, I find rope bracelets just remind me of holidays and those little stalls you always end up buying a million from. :)

My Favourite Foundation | MAC Face and Body

Hey everyone! I'm really sorry I haven't posted in a little while. I have just been super busy what with work and everything. I need to start taking my photos in advance so I can just plonk myself down and get writing as soon as I have a spare moment. Also, how amazing has the weather been here in England this past weekend? Wow! Its so rare to actually have some sunshine let alone hot weather. Its been gorgeous! Pretty bummed that I had to work the entire scorching weekend... at least today has been lovely too. Anyway, todays post is on my current favourite foundation, MAC Face and Body.

Now I have been using this foundation on and off now for about a year but in the last few months I have been using nothing else. I just love this foundation! Its really light and super build-able, so whether you want a nice light coverage or something a lot heavier for a night out - this is all you need. As you can probably see from the swatch, it is quite a runny product which may not be to everyone's fancy. I personally love the fact its runny as it make blending a doddle and makes it super easy to build up to the kind of coverage I want. As for lasting power, this lasts on my skin all day long, and doesn't flake off or turn my skin shiny after a few hours. I normally apply this with a buffing brush so I can buff it into my skin to create that natural, yet flawless look.

Now I have super dry skin and foundation isn't always the easiest thing for me. I have gorgeous thick foundations for nights out or when I want a flawless finish but they are not ideal for every day use, my skin just flakes. This is perfect! So if you have dry skin, I couldn't recommend this enough. This foundation applies a light to medium coverage so I am pretty sure it will work for all skin types too. Another brilliant thing I love about this foundation is the fact it feels so moisturising on my skin. Like I said before, some foundations can turn flakey on my skin or make it feel tight, this doesn't do that all no matter how long I have been wearing it for. Its a must have for me in the summer and winter months thats for sure!

As for shades, I go for the shade C1. I am normally a NC15 in other MAC foundations and concealers so this was the nearest to that. When I do get a tanned face, this can be a little light but nothing a little bronzer cannot fix. Over all there are 13 shades to choose from which is more than enough, they range from really dark to really light and nearly all of them can be mixed together to create pretty much any shade imaginable. Another great thing is they do this is two sizes, a 50ml for £21.50 and 120ml for £27 so if you wanted to give this a try but didn't want to splash out on the larger bottle and waste a lot of product, then you can purchase the dinky one and test it out.

So yeah, this is the foundation I am totally obsessed with at the moment and if you are in the market for a new foundation yourself then this is definitely worth checking out. If any of you have used this foundation before, what did you think?

Sun Beds | Worth The Risk?

Picture Link
Hey everyone! Hope you are all well and ready for the weekend. Its meant to be glorious for the next few days and seriously warm. Im gutted because I am working the entire weekend so am missing out on decent weather.. boo! Should still be hot on Monday which is my day off so I'm just going to look forward to that! Anyway, onto todays post. I have been wanting to do a post on this for a while now, so finally decided to sit down and get to it. :)

Now I love getting a tan, whether it be on holiday or in my own back garden. I love the feel of the sun on my skin and how healthy I look once I have a bit of colour and glow about me. When I have a tan I feel great, I love the fact I don't have to wear nearly as much make up, I can show my legs knowing they look fantastic and I just instantly feel more confident. But what I would love to know is why so many people put their lives at risk just for the feeling?

Sun beds are the largest cause of skin cancer in the world and after just one use, they can increase your chance of getting it by 90%, especially if you are under 25. That is massive and a risk I would never be willing to take. Why so many people do is totally beyond me. A tan is basically your body's way of protecting itself from the UV rays and too much can cause serious damage. What's more, sometimes you wont be able to see the damage until 20 years later. Obviously by then, its too late.

Sun beds can give out greater doses of UV rays then the midday Mediterranean sun which seems pretty extreme to me and aside from the damage they cause and the high risk of developing Melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer), they also can turn your skin leathery and wrinkled. I mean, who would actually want to end up with skin like that? We spend ages making ourselves look good but to then ruin your skin that way is crazy. Once your skin is like that, you cant go back. It's far better just to wait until you go on holiday or can enjoy the natural English sunshine (with sunscreen of course!). If you're really desperate, there is always fake tan!

Like I said, I understand why people like having a tan. I totally agree with them, who wouldn't want to have a nice golden tan all year round? But is it really worth the risk? Is it really worth maximising your chance of getting skin cancer just for the sake of a bronzed look? I really don't think so and I do think people need to understand what spending 12 minutes a ay on a sun bed does to them. Too many people think 'it won't happen to me', but how do you know that? You don't and its just not worth it.

Lots of love

Selfridges Festival Beauty Box

Hey ladies. How are you all? Todays post is on Selfridges Festival Beauty Box which I ordered a a week or so ago. As soon as I heard about this box I couldn't wait for it to come on sale. The products all looked amazing and were definitely things I would use. The box itself cost £25 but is worth a total of £110. That is amazing and makes it a perfect way to try out new products without spending a small fortune. As for the packaging, this was a super tiny box which I guess is because its meant for taking to a festival but all the products fitted in perfectly. It was still in Selfridges signature yellow style with the super cute tissue paper so it still looked classy. Anyway lets get onto the products inside this little box...

Sol de Janerio Coconut Cooling Mist. This is lovely and very refreshing. I actually tried this as soon as I opened the box and I really like it. Its ideal for when your feeling hot and just want to cool down. The smell is also lovely, its very subtle so its not overpowering. Strong scents are a no no in the summer as far as I'm concerned.

Topshop Lip crayon in 'Powder Room'. I actually included this in my June favourites here because I loved this so much. The colour is gorgeous and perfect as an every day pink and the formula is fantastic. Its not too drying or flakey and it lasts for ages! Something thats very important when you're out and about and don't have the time to reapply.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in 'Navy'. I have tried a few of Eyeko's products before and quite liked them so I am pretty excited to give this a go. I normally wear black eyeliner so navy should make a change and create a slightly different look. I quite like the idea of wearing navy in the summer, its something a little less dramatic. Have to wait and see!

Coloursmash Hair Shadow. Sooooo excited to try this. I always see this pictures on Instagram of girls with pink or purple bits in their hair for summer and it looks so good. I am not quite brave enough to ever do that permanently so this looks like a good way to test it out and wear it for a day or so without actually committing to wearing it full time.

Violent Lips Lip Appliques in 'Warm Rainbow'. These do look pretty scary but I remember seeing these being applied at a beauty show once and they did look really cool. I am not sure if I would ever have the guts to wear this out and about but it will be fun to try them out anyway. :)

Illamasqua Liquid Metal Metallic Cream. Love this shade! Its gorgeous and will look amazing on a night out or something. I can't wait to test this out. Its lovely and creamy and looks like it could be a perfect base too. I have also always wanted some Illamasqua make up! Yay!

Bare Minerals Pretty Amazing Moxie Lipgloss. Bare Minerals is a great brand so I was so excited to try this lip gloss out. The colour is a perfect pink and will look great with any kind of look whether it be a neutral look or something a bit more dramatic. Again, the formula is brilliant and the lasting power is good for a lipgloss.

Azature Nail Polish in 'Champagne'. Woooo another nail polish! My collection is growing more and more by the day. I have never even heard of this brand before so I don't know how great the quality is or anything. Pretty excited to use it though and the colour is really different. Its like a bronze shade but with little bits of gold and champagne coloured glitter. Lovely!

Cowshed Anti-bacterial Hand Gel. You always need Anti-bacterail hand gel so this was a nice little extra. I always have one in my bag at all times but I tend to go for your average brands that don't cost a small fortune. Cowshed is a good quality brand so it will be interesting to see if it makes a difference at all.

NPW Mini Scented Hand and Face Wipes. These are so cute! The are so dinky and the packaging is so cool. Again, perfect for popping in my hand bag. You never know when you might need them. If I was going to a festival, this would be the sort of thing I would be super happy to receive in this box.

NPW Chubby Glitter Stick. Again, not something I will probably use regularly but would be ideal if I was going to a festival this year. I still think it will be pretty handy. Who knows when you might need some pink glitter in a stick right?

So thats whats included in the Selfridges Festival Beauty Box. The box is still available to purchase on Selfridges website here but I'm not sure how long it will be around for so get to it quickly. :) If you have already got this cute little box, what did you think?

Monthly Favourites | June

Hey everyone. How are you all? Back to work for me this week which is a little depressing after having a whole ten days off. Don't you just find that time off just flies by? Its really unfair! Anyway its time for my monthly favourites and I seriously cannot believe its July already, it almost feels like we haven't had June at all. Probably doesn't help with the rubbish weather here in the UK. Hopefully this month brings a bit more sunshine! Anyway... onto the favourites!

Charles Worthington Salon at Home Volume and Bounce Shampoo. So I bought this along with the conditioner near the beginning of the month and I love it. It really gives my hair a lovely boost and lasts all day long (with the occasionally backcomb here and there). I also really love the smell of this shampoo. It smells really clean and refreshing which is a perfect wake me up.

Victoria's Secret Warm and Cosy Body Lotion. This has actually been a firm favourite of mine for a little while and I did a post on it here along with my other favourite body lotions if you want to take a look. The reason I put it in my monthly favourites is because I have used this nearly every day this month. I have always loved the smell but I have been really really loving it lately. I think I have also been using it a lot more because my skin doesn't need that extra moisture in the summer months.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun. I am in love with this product! Maybe for just smell alone? I bought this ready for holidays and when the sunshine finally arrives here. We did have a lovely week of weather the other day and I got to try it out. Its very hydrating and soothing on the skin and leaves it feeling unbelievable soft and cool. The smell is actually divine and lingers for ages. Love it!

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in 'Unicorn'. I did feature this in my nail polish haul here. I have worn it a few times now and I actually adore it. Its a gorgeous pastel yellow which I find are pretty hard to come by anyway but this one is very opaque and not sheer and runny like a lot of yellow polishes can be. I have worn this several times this month and because it doesn't chip easily, I have got a lot of wear out of it. Highly recommend you check out Sinful Colors nail polishes, they are amazing!

Topshop Lip Crayon in 'Powder Room'. I actually received this in Selfridges Festival Beauty Box which I will be doing a post on in the next couple of days. I haven't had it for very long but I really like it. The colour is gorgeous and something you can wear everyday and the formula is great too. When I have worn this, it has lasted for absolute ages. Very impressed Topshop.

Bdellium Tools Pink Brush in # 940. I picked this up at IMATS the other week and I have not stopped using it since. I have been using this to apply powder under my eyes and it works perfectly. The brush is so soft and gentle and applies just the right amount of product. Plus its pink so thats a bonus. :)

Pretty Little Liars Season 3 DVD. Oh My God! So again, I had to include one thing that wasn't beauty related and it had to be this. I am totally obsessed with Pretty Little Liars and have been watching this non stop. It so addictive and I just love it! Its definitely one of my favourite shows and can't wait to find out whats going to happen! :)

So there you have it, another months favourites. Can't believe it will be July's next! What have you been loving this month?
