Yankee Candles | Scents for Fall

Hey ladies! If you follow me on Instagram then you will know that the Yankee Candles I ordered the other day finally arrived and how excited I was. I love it when you get huge boxes delivered to your house, even though you know whats inside its still super exciting. :) I adore candles, especially in the autumn and winter seasons. They just make your room feel a lot cosier and they look gorgeous. Now I have (nearly) accepted the fact that I can't easily get hold of Bath and Body Works candles and as much as this disappoints me, I need to have a supply of candles through the winter months so have moved right along to my next favourites - Yankee Candle.

Yankee Candle does a huge range of scents for all seasons and whilst you can't actually get hold of all of them here in the UK, the selection is still pretty huge. I purchased these from Yankee Doodle which is a fantastic website with so many candles to choose from at reasonable prices, so its worth taking a look, all you candle lovers out there. After spending ages trying to wittle it down to just two candles (its super difficult when you want every single one), I finally decided on 'Home Sweet Home' and 'Macintosh Spice'.

'Home Sweet Home' is described as 'A heartwarming blend of cinnamon, baking spices and a hint of freshly poured tea.' I am useless at describing scents so I wont even attempt it, let me just say that its a lovely homely smell and perfect for fall and cosy nights in. 'Macintosh Spice' is described as 'Simply delicious... crisp, slightly tart apple slices sprinkled with freshly ground cinnamon.' and it has to be my favourite out of the two. Its just autumn in a candle and I just love it!

Whilst browsing the site I also came across these 'Illuma Lids'. They are super cute and come in lots of different styles to suit your favourite season and they are meant to reduce the effects of drafts and help the flame burn much steadier whilst still distributing the scent evenly. They sound really good and I just fell in love with the designs so I popped this cute pine cone one into my basket before I checked out. I also received a free sampler in the scent ' Cinnamon Stick' with my purchase which I thought was a nice little touch.

So they are the latest additions to my candle collection and I can't wait to add more autumn and winter scents, especially the Christmas ones! I figured that maybe it was a little too early for those though..

What are your favourite Yankee Candle scents for the autumn and winter months? Is this your favourite time of year to light candles?

Look Book | Autumn Is Coming...

Hey everyone! Autumn is really just around the corner now and that means we can start shopping for those winter boots, chunky knits and accessories to take us from summer to fall. Its one of my favourite times of year, I just love the style in Autumn/Winter. Its much more me and I find there are a lot more choices out there for everyone. Today's post is a possible outfit for when the weather isn't quite cold enough for your favourite sweaters and scarves but you still want to rock the fall trends. :)

So first up, a pair of jeans. I live in jeans most of the year but fall is the perfect season to really style them up and make them look special. I love this skinny pair that look slightly distressed and because they are a medium wash, they aren't too wintery and are a perfect transition piece. Next, I paired them with this gorgeous tartan shirt. Tartan is going to be huge for A/W13 and I am so excited! I just think tartan really transforms an outfit and the great thing about shirts is they can be worn either as a jacket, with the sleeves rolled up or down and paired with pretty much anything. They are ideal for the in-between season look and I just love the denim panel on the back too. I will be searching Topshop high and low for this, thats for sure! Onto Boots, now I love buying a new pair of boots every year and its worth it because you pretty much live in them for most of the year, here in the UK. I love these chunky, black biker boots with this outfit, it just toughens it up and links nicely with the shirt. The great thing about black biker boots is that they look fantastic with so many things, perfect if you only want to purchase one new pair this season.

Moving on to jewellery, its all about chunky rings this season and I just adore them. The more the better and I like to just pile them on. I find this looks best with gold ones but you can play around with a mix match of metals to create your own style. I also included some chunky black and gold bangles too match in with the boots and toughen up the look. Lastly, its time for the makeup. Now red lipstick is always a perfect fall colour and this Topshop one is the perfect shade but lashes are meant to pretty big this A/W so I also included MAC's Zoom lash mascara too. As for nail polish, a mixture of black and red nails is ideal for this look. Its all about the finishing touches after all. :)

Monthly Favourites| August

Hey ladies! Can you actually believe we are into September already? I certainly can't and I am so excited. When we hit September I always start thinking of what I can buy for my fall wardrobe, the fact that Halloween is just around the corner and we can start carving pumpkins again and that we only have four months until Christmas! I really like Autumn, there is just so much going on! Anyway, onto my August favourites...

Big Sexy Hair Hairspray. I purchased this quite a while a go but I have only recently started using it and I love it. I only use this when I am wearing my hair loose, whether it be straight or curled and its amazing. It literally hold my hair perfectly even when its hot but doesn't leave it horrible and crispy and my hair still has lots of movement. The other thing I love is that it holds the volume in my hair for so much longer then with a normal hairspray. So happy I purchased this all those months ago. I couldn't be without it now!

Victoria's Secret Strawberries and Champagne Body Mist. I did a post on this and the other two body mists I purchased here but this has to be my favourite and one I have been using a lot! I just love the smell of this so much and the fact that the scent lasts for hours on end. Its lovely and light and not over powering at all. A lovely subtle scent that can be worn every single day.

Jergens Skin Firming Body Moisturiser. I love this! I try and use this nearly every single day and its so hydrating and makes my skin feel lovely and smooth afterwards. I am one for trying body moisturisers out all the time but I haven't felt the need to purchase anymore since getting this one. I just love it and if its making me look more toned at the same time then thats an added bonus! Whether it actually is.. I cant be sure.

China Glaze Nail Polish in 'Hang Ten-Toes'. I did a NOTD post on this shade here but it has been a firm favourite for the whole month of August really. I just adore this shade! I wore it lots last summer and have gone back to it again this year. Its just a super bright, summery pink that really stands out. Love it.

L'Occitane Moisturizing Lip Balm. A couple of weeks ago, I had what I think was a reaction to a lip product of some sort and my lips were beyond dry and felt really tight and uncomfortable. I read so many great reviews on this product I thought I would give it a whirl and hope it sorted me out. It did. This lip balm is amazing. It is super hydrating and is 100% natural. I have been using this every single day without fail. I think I will do a separate post for this one product because I love it that much.

Crown Red Sable Oval Brush. I purchased this brush when I went to IMATS in June and I have been using this nearly every day. Its the perfect brush for packing on colour to your eyelid. It holds a lot of product and is lovely and soft.

Lucky Charms Treat Bars. Okay, lastly is my non beauty favourite and its these Lucky Charm cereal bars. These are so good! I am a huge fan of Lucky Charms cereal (incase you didn't know) so when I found these I got really excited! They taste just like the cereal but in cereal bar form and have a yummy yoghurt base. So so good! I have been eating these loads this past month and cant get enough. :)

So thats it, my August favourites. What have you been loving in August?

MAC Lipstick | Lady Danger

L-R. Lady Danger lipstick and Redd lip liner
Hey everyone! Todays post is on the newest MAC lipstick in my collection "Lady Danger'. Now autumn is only just around the corner which means nail polishes get darker, clothes get cosier and lipsticks shades get deeper. Now I am actually a huge fan of red lipstick even though I tend not to wear it as much as I would like sometimes. Also, like most people, I don't suit every shade of red out there so finding the perfect one can take a little time. So when I purchased this gorgeous shade and saw how lovely it was, I knew this was the red for me.

So 'Lady Danger' is a stunning bright red and is described as a 'vivid bright coral - red'. I personally think its a lot more red than coral and its just gorgeous! It also has a matte finish which I think looks great with red lipstick. The formula of this lipstick is amazing, as is all MAC lipsticks I have ever tried and also lasts for hours and when it does start to fade, it leaves a stain to your lips so you don't need to constantly reapply. The only downside to this product is, because it is a matte lipstick, it can show up any dry areas on your lips. So come winter, get a hydrating lip balm!

When I wear this lipstick I also pair it with MAC's lip liner in 'Redd'. It just gives you a better look and neatens up the edges. I love this combo and can't wait to start wearing it in the colder months!

Have you tried this lipstick? What did you think? Whats your favourite lipstick for fall?

My Favourite Base and Top Coats

Hey everyone, how are you all? Today is just a quick post on my current favourite base coat and top coat. When you paint your nails as much as me then you know how important it is to have a brilliant base coat and a long lasting shiny topcoat. There is nothing worse then painting your nails perfectly and then after one day, they are chipped and ruined. A lot of new nail polishes are becoming more chip resistant all the time but to me, a top coat is vital and a base coat helps to prevent all that staining and keep your nails in slightly better condition then without.

So first up, my favourite base coat. Years ago I actually never used a base coat (shock, horror!) because I just couldn't see the point. It took up too much time and was boring to do. However I cant stress enough how important a decent base coat is. Not only does it prevent your nails from getting stained by the darker shades of polish, it also makes you nail polish last so much longer and gives you a nice surface to paint. I have been loving this Essie Rock Solid base coat recently. It has made my nails a lot stronger and break less and I feel like it has a made a huge difference to the quality of my nails. It costs £8.99 in Boots but they are always doing offers on nail polish so look out for deals. I think I actually bought mine for half price.

Next up, top coat. Now I have got through top coats like you wouldn't believe! I paint my nails all the time and obviously I use the same top coat every time, they run out pretty quick, believe me! However this Essie number has to be my favourite at the moment and I can't see me changing my mind any time soon. This is Essie Good To Go rapid dry top coat and I love it! Not only does it dry in seconds which makes painting my nails that much quicker, it also makes my polish last for days whilst keeping them super shiny. To me, this is the best topcoat I have had for a while. Again, it coats £8.99 in Boots but is worth every penny. Anything that makes my nail polish last for 3-4 days without a slight chip (and I work in retail) and gives them a lasting shine is worth a lot!

What are your favourite base coats and top coats? Any you think I should try?

Lots of love
